Choosing an e-commerce platform is the most expensive decision to reverse after launch. Products get migrated, the theme is rewritten, integrations break and SEO equity goes at risk. The decision is worth getting right the first time.
The comparison below comes from stores we have actually built. There is no single best platform — only the right one for a given business model.

When Shopify is right
If you sell across borders, need multiple currencies and languages, or want to draw on a large app ecosystem, Shopify leads. Infrastructure sits with Shopify, so server, security and update work is not yours.
The trade-off: subscription and transaction fees are a fixed cost, and monthly spend climbs quickly once several paid apps are added. Some Turkey-specific integrations require an app.
When Ikas is right
If you mainly sell inside Turkey and want e-invoicing, local carriers and payment gateways working out of the box, Ikas gets you started fastest. Turkish support and local payment methods ship built in.
The trade-off: customization and the app ecosystem are narrower than Shopify. A non-standard workflow reaches the ceiling sooner.
When Ticimax is right
Suited to businesses focused on the Turkish market that want marketplace integrations managed from one panel and value a broad set of ready modules. The admin is designed around local operations.
The trade-off: less flexibility in interface and theme customization; if design freedom is a priority it will constrain you.
When WooCommerce is right
If you want full control and have technical capacity, WooCommerce offers unlimited customization. There is no licence cost; hosting, security and updates are your responsibility.
The trade-off: maintenance is a real cost. A WooCommerce install with skipped updates becomes a security liability.
Three questions that decide it
- How much of your revenue will come from outside Turkey? If it is high, Shopify moves ahead.
- Are Turkey-specific integrations (e-invoicing, local carriers, installments) critical? If so, Ikas and Ticimax gain the advantage.
- Do you have a non-standard workflow? Then WooCommerce or a custom Shopify app is required.
Platform pricing and features change over time. Verify current pricing on each provider’s own page before deciding.
If you are migrating
The most commonly lost asset in a platform migration is SEO equity. Unless every old URL is mapped to its new one with a 301 redirect, the rankings you earned disappear. The redirect map should be the first output of the migration.
